Eastbourne CAP

The Eastbourne Centre of Christians Against Poverty celebrated its first birthday on Sunday 18 October at Community Church. Centre Manager, Paul Downes, reminded everyone that in the first year 49 families have been given first class debt counselling, and 23 families have gone on to see the burden of crippling debt lifted from them. He went on: ‘This isn't just about sorting out debt, although that is very important. It is more about offering people hope for the future and freedom from fear and anxiety."

Howard Wardle, leader of Community Church, said: ‘This project, which also includes a food and clothes bank, has been birthed at a time of national economic recession and is open to absolutely anyone in Eastbourne who has a problem with debt. This is all about the Christian faith in action - God's incredible love demonstrated practically without judgement."
