ONE VOICE, ONE RHYTHM, ONE CONCERT

An enthusiastic and delighted audience packed the Congress Theatre on 4 October for a feast of music and dance from local school children, special guest Graham Kendrick, and the Kabubbu Orphans Choir. 'One Voice, One Rhythm, One World' gave its Eastbourne audience an evening to remember. Full of colour, movement and sound the performance went without a hitch. Choirs from eight local primary schools and four secondary schools performed delightful songs written by local musical production company Starshine.

The Kabubbu Orphan Choir sang and danced with routines that were both exuberant and brilliantly synchronised. Graham Kendrick led the audience in congregational singing and commended the work of the Quicken Trust and its founders, Geoff and Geraldine Booker.

The aims of the event were to celebrate the tenth anniversary of this small local development charity, which in ten short years has brought astonishing transformation to Kabubbu, a village in Uganda, and to thank the many sponsors of the orphan children who attend its new primary and secondary schools. The Congress was chosen as a venue in order to give as many people as possible the opportunity to see and hear the talented choir during its short thank-you visit to the UK. The evening raised approximately £5,000 from offerings, raffle, sales of goods and programmes.
