CHRISTIANS AGAINST POVERTY

Even before the present economic crisis 80% of Europe's personal debt was concentrated in the UK. What will be the situation by the end of 2009? Christians Against Poverty (CAP) is a national debt counselling charity working through a network of centres based in local churches. Through its unique, in-depth service it offers hope and a solution to anyone in debt.  CAP, established in 1996, opened a centre in Eastbourne in September last year.

The service is practical, long-term and freely available to everyone and is often an opportunity to share the gospel message.

CAP works with clients until they are debt free, teaching them how to budget and manage their money more effectively.  Through using a team of support workers, they are able to build meaningful relationships that would otherwise not have been possible.

The professional and holistic service has helped transform lives across the UK.  They have seen marriages restored, homes saved from repossession, depression lifted and suicide prevented as clients find hope once more.

That's what we pray for and work for here in Eastbourne!
