Prince of Wales speaks about HopeFather Martin Onions, Vicar of St Mary's,Willingdon, recently had the opportunity to attend a reception for more than 80 people, hosted by HRH The Prince of Wales at Clarence House. Father Martin reported that Prince Charles paid tribute to everyone involved with Hope, for "their devotion and ability to motivate people". Prince Charles went on to say that he wascfascinated to hear about how the Hope initiative had started and encouraged by the response it had received all over the country. Father Martin reports that one of ways local residents have made a difference in the Polegate, Willingdon and Jevington areas is by means of the care scheme which has been set up. Volunteers give their time and energy to a variety of tasks, from changing a smoke alarm battery to taking people shopping or helping with appointments. However, Father Martin goes on to say that the scheme needs more volunteers. "Just tell us how much time you can give and when. We don't want to put anyone under undue pressure." So why not join the volunteers in and around Eastbourne and make a difference to the people around you? Call 07900 823138, Monday to Friday 9.30am to 12.30pm to register.
