Hope on the Streets As we move into the Pentecost season we remember when the Holy Spirit first came on the members of the early church. They spilled out of the room where they had been meeting and praying together and their actions were seen by the thousands of people that gathered in Jerusalem. This is a great reminder to us to let our activities break out of our church buildings and to get back onto the streets where we live. One of the challenges for Hope is to motivate us to join together and offer kindness in the form of practical help to the people we meet in our day to day lives. Some ideas we've already come across are: - Volunteer to help clear up an area in your community.
- Wash your neighbours' cars for free (rather than their feet!)
- Talk to local prison chaplains and see if you can do anything for those in prison.
- Show a film in your home or church and invite people to join you.
- Organise fun days with bouncy castle, etc.
Keep talking to church members, neighbours, teachers, health visitors and local councillors about what your area needs. Organise regular fun events so that people can see you celebrating life and faith. Are you ready for the challenge and to make a difference?
